47 Drivers Already Registered for the SIMGEAR F4 Summer Challenge

The upcoming SIMGEAR F4 Summer Challenge is gaining serious momentum. As of now, 47 drivers have signed up, with the maximum grid capacity capped at 60 participants.

This special edition marks the 10th season of the SIMGEAR championships, and for the first time, it features the Formula 4 car in a fixed-setup format.

Race Format

Each round includes:

Practice – 30 minutes
Qualifying – 20 minutes (open session)
Race 1 – 20 minutes (Top 10 reverse grid)
Warm-up – 10 minutes
Race 2 – 30 minutes (normal grid)
Race evenings start at 16:20 UTC / 19:20 EEST

First Practice Recap – Laguna Seca Sees Fast Times and Fresh Talent

The first of three open practice sessions took place on Laguna Seca, which is also the venue for Round 1 on June 15th. A total of 14 drivers participated, with cool and cloudy conditions – around 20°C air temp and 30°C track temp.

The fastest time was set by Martin Yankov with a 1:20.802, followed by Alex Stefanov (1:21.337) and Viktor Vurbano (1:21.388).

Exciting debuts were made by real-life Formula 4 driver Martin Stoyanov, who showed competitive pace, and Leo Taylor, a new entry to the league with promising early results.
